What if Philippines has four seasons?

Hi everyone, since I am in my blogging mood today, I just want to share what it would be like for our country to have four seasons- spring, summer, winter, fall. Minus the summer, which I think we always have, it would be wise to observe, do or even DREAM of the following, of course that is relative to FASHION AND STYLE. Here are some of my wishlists in case autumn, spring or even winter will happen in the Philippines, (I hope it will, maybe in a billion years from now, or unless the country situates itself near the north pole and away from the earth's equator.

  • It would be very appropriate for us to wear those Chanel's boots, with cashmere sweater matched with a pedora hat and stripped linen inner blouse and a scarf to go with it. We can go to the LRT and well say to the guard, 'Wait let me fix my scarf' and tighten my boots:
  • Those sheer top and teal colored blazer matched with a perfectly cut trousers and bangles a burgundy satchel would be a perfect outfit for autumn.
  • You will not worry about wearing sunscreen because you will have the chance to feel the snow and wear those cashmere coat, wool top or a poncho, or a suede or leather shorts or jeans.
  • Divisoria will still be open for clothes shopping but instead of selling those 100.00 t-shirt or blouse, they would be offering you sweaters, stockings, leggings, boots, scarf of all sorts and patterns and even layers and layers of sheep or wool material.
  • The malls of course will be different. Gone are the days where we see a  mannequin dressed up in a blouse and jeans. It would be so stylish and fashionable that every single item in the mannequin would be like that of Classified Store in Glorietta. You will not be wearing that crumpy blouse or sandals, or ballet flats otherwise, you would end up stuck in the SNOWWWW. I mean, snow, not mud, not puke not anything else..but snow. Can you believe it if it snows in the Philippines? I guess Mall of Asia would run out of skating rink business....LOL!
  • As we are like photography addicts, falling leaves in autumn would be a great background for photoshoots, fashion runways and even prenuptial shoots.
  • The Philippine fashion week would be consist of four looks, winter, spring, summer and fall. Four shows, four get ups.
  • We would not only be wearing hats, but different umbrellas and head gear as well.
  • Filipinos will be so fashion conscious that we will be the next fashion destination in the world. That would be a great news to all stylists, models, designers, photographers, magazine editors... more seasons, more jobs, more livelihood.
  • Maybe Preview or Mega magazine will publish a gigantic September issue like Vogue, where we prepare almost every outfit of the coming fashion year.
  • Four seasons will not just be a hotel or a juice but more of a lifestyle where every three months the houses get renovated, clothes change, taste in food change and even the animals come out and go based on the season...
  • In winter, the houses are rock solid and we have heater or burning furnace in the house and in autumn we have lots of cleaning to do in the surrounding due to the falling leaves.
  • In spring, we will be wearing florals, patterns, designer clothes and apparel that speak this is spring.
  • But my favourite of all seasons is autumn... Though I have yet to experience it. Autumn brings out the best in the person, not too cold and not too hot weather is perfect to do everything from hiking, dining, biking, swimming, shopping and even shoot a fashion editorial.
  • Clothes in winter are shot in  summer while swimwear for summer are shot in winter. So Filipino models will get ready.
  • Our skin will be effervescent. We will not need Block and White or Gluta because the spring and winter seasons will make us very white, and we will not be afraid of the sun anymore because we need to get tanned.
  • The Us Girls tv show will showcase four seasons of fashion, lifestyle and glamour.
  • Food will also vary since most of us will get to be thin just to be get into that outfit. As what one movie star said in the movie, Bride Wars, Vera Wang does not fit you, you need to fit into Vera Wang. So, I say, the thinner, the better, the more fashionable.
All these are merely dreams but there is nothing wrong with it. The ambition of having four seasons in the country is well, I guess, an outright from reality, but then again, these are some imaginative occurrences or scenarios that might occur once we have spring, summer, winter, fall.

FASHIONISTA song...an analysis

One of my favorite fashion songs of all time is Fashionista by Jimmy James, aside of course from Vogue by Madonna and Fashion by Lady Gaga and David Bowie. Here, I would like to share my introspective, provocative and detailed analysis of the song, well, perhaps, it needed one.

To all the fashionistas, isn't it time for us to ponder on some good songs and don't rely only on the beat. Whether the song makes us wanna walk the runway, if you have one, or simply lift up that mood for shopping, styling or even beauty make-up, fashion songs have changed the mindset of stylish individuals to the point of experiencing LSS (last song syndrome).

Which one of you would ever dare to go againstThat beauty is a trade and everyone is paid

Recently, beauty has become a commodity. It is after all the multi-billion dollar business and has shaped  and influenced both men and women all over the world. When beauty is made and not born, it becomes a reality, from botox to plastic surgery, beauty nowadays becomes fake and that's because of so much advertisement that try to define our lives. Beauty is STILL in the eyes of the beholder and that's always been a fact. For some, beauty is relative but for others, beauty should be defined. I even once researched that there are levels of becoming beauty...CUTE, PRETTY, BEAUTIFUL, GORGEOUS, AND FINE. Whatever it is called, inner beauty is still what counts because your outside appearance is a reflection of your inner beauty.

The term fashionista is  a person stylish enough to call attention or interest or stop a truck. But, everyone is called fashionistas. The only thing that defines fashionista is that if you wear something trendy, modern, sophisticated or different, you are already called fashionista, but this is not the case. You can even wear just a tee, black belt, denim and sneaker and can be called fashionista.I think that fashionista is an expression of one's sense of style, which should not be absolute definition but a relative, personal and individualistic taste.

(Beauty has a price)
Beauty again, as I say is the most expensive form of commodity in the world. Try to count billions of people wanting to look good and beautiful. Since most of us are visual people, everyone wants to see something beautiful. Who doesn't?

Philippines is not one of the fashion capitals in the world. The countries above have already made a mark in the fashion industry. Because, it is so expensive and arduous to enter any of the fashion weeks in these destinations, I would simply watch them in FashionTV or Fashion one channels. But, my biggest dream which is in my bucket list is to watch any of these shows in Milan, GUCCI, in Paris, CHANEL , in NEW YORK, Michael Kors, in LONDON, Burberry..

What are you wearing?Who are you wearing ?What are you wearing?Who are you wearing?

The question nowadays is "Who are you wearing? instead of " What are you wearing?" That is because designers have left an impression that you and I are wearing their collection. You must not only know the label, you must also know the creative director/designer behind the label...The next time someone asked you, be sure you know how to answer such as" I am wearing Prada or Gucci or local designer Veejay Floresca, Renee Salud or Michael Cinco

Among the brands stated above, my fave is Gucci, Michael Kors and Chanel because of their luxurious, expensive, high fashion and intricate details. By the way, they are the most imitative brands I know. When you to markets, you can always find Class A, replica brands.

Looking good is never easy

Looking good is easy for me...right clothes, right hair, right make-up, and of course right ATTITUDE. But, again one must have inner confidence to be able to wear a complete look.

I do not think she is such. She is the most versatile, profound, professional and classic supermodel I know in the entire world. I don't care what others are saying, so as long she can deliver.

Then again, we always say that for one to fit into anything, you must be tall and thin. But fashion can be suitable to any body types. One has to remember to appropriately suit the BODY to the attire/clothes rather than the other way around.

How to style yourself...as a man?

Formal and Office Attire

Your most pressing style questions answered

Question
How do I tell if a suit fits properly?

Answer

While the prevailing silhouette is as tight now as it ever has been, suits still have to fit - stretching and pulling remain unflattering even if a jacket is cut like a second skin. Ideally the jacket will be as wide, but no wider, than your shoulders, the collar will sit flat against your shirt collar, the back will fall in a fairly straight line from the shoulder blades, the armpits will be quite neat (because otherwise the jacket will restrict arm movement), the buttoning point will be on the same latitude as your belly button, there will be enough shape to give you a waist, and it'll be close - but not tight - around the stomach.

Question
I'd like to buy a suit that I can wear to work and in the evening. Shall I buy a black one?
Answer
The only black suit a man truly needs is a dinner jacket, although many choose to wear black for day and night. Unless the invitation calls for a dinner jacket or tuxedo, there's nothing wrong with wearing a blue or grey suit in the evening. Basic colours take on a subtly different appearance in mohair fabric, which is just shiny enough to stand out at night.

Question
I wear a suit to work every day but I've got a job interview at a firm where everyone dresses casually. What on earth should I wear?
Answer
It's more important to feel comfortable than to slavishly follow the dress code so, if the thought of casual clothes fills you with dread, stick with a suit and wear it well. However, if you do have time to prepare I'd consider some neat chinos, navy-blue socks, brown loafers, a white shirt and a blazer. A knitted tie is an optional extra; it'll improve the outfit without making it significantly more formal.

Question
I want to buy a jacket, and it will be a while before I buy another. Is there anything else for it but to buy a blazer?
Answer
There is a reason that the navy single-breasted blazer is ubiquitous. It has rightly been described as the little black dress of the male wardrobe, and that metaphor hints at how varied blazers can be. It is best to overcome your misgivings by finding a modern one, without brass buttons or padded shoulders. An alternative, for the colder months, is a tweed jacket in a broad grey herringbone.

Question
I see men in very short jackets. Should I emulate them?
Answer
Short is where we're at, and the man to thank or blame is the US designer Thom Browne. His clothes seemed outrageous when they first appeared, but his influence has been huge. Any man remotely interested in fashion will want to wear jackets (particularly blazers or tweed jackets) far shorter than tradition dictates. However, clothes shouldn't look shrunken, because that leaves men looking like overgrown schoolboys, or simply fat. Regardless of body shape, it's probably best that your backside is covered.

Question
Will I look like the Prince of Wales if I wear a double-breasted jacket?
Answer
Yes, but only if you wear a big, loose, old-fashioned one. Double-breasted jackets are very stylish, and contemporary versions, which are neat in the body and relatively short, are extremely elegant and bear little relation to what HRH wears.
Question
I am newly single and I want to update my wardrobe. What should I be looking for and what should I avoid, with a female audience in mind?
Answer
Do not try to reinvent yourself, because it will probably be unconvincing. Instead concentrate on updating the classics for a fresh and contemporary look. Jeans, shoes, shirts and suits mustn't look outdated or worn out. Few girls notice the intricacies of how a man dresses, but they are likely to notice your watch and your shoes; either can be taken as an indication of your income bracket, so make sure you're happy to be judged on them. And it's obvious, but make sure you reload your underwear drawer.

Question
Double-breasted jackets and suits look cool, but how do I make one feel cool in summer?
Answer
A double-breasted jacket is going to be warmer than a single-breasted jacket in the same material, not least because you really have to wear it buttoned up. However, you can mitigate against the heat by choosing a fabric that breathes. Lightweight high-twist wools (sometimes known as fresco cloth) made into unlined, largely unstructured jackets will be the breeziest option. There is a cloth called Solaro, available only in a tan colour with a reddish background, that is said to reflect the sun's rays, which you might consider for a bespoke commission. It's good enough for some of the best-dressed men in Italy (Luca di Montezemolo, Matteo Marzotto, Lapo Elkann), so it's good enough for us.

Question
How long are suit trousers meant to be?
Answer
Right now they feel right anywhere between the shin bone (although this needs careful thought, good socks and beautifully tapered trousers) and the top of the shoe with a maximum of one break in the fabric. Any longer than that and your trousers will 'puddle' on your shoes, which looks juvenile and scruffy and makes your legs look shorter.

Question
Are turn-ups cool now? All the trendy types roll up their jeans, but how does this translate to suits?
Answer
This is up to you and your inside leg measurement. Turn-ups are a very personal thing but what is universal is the fact that they shorten the apparent length of the leg; shorter guys may want to consider this fact. And, traditionally, they make a suit less formal than it otherwise would be, which is why dinner-jacket trousers never have them.

Question
I find it uncomfortable to wear a tie. Is it OK if I just ditch it?
Answer
There are times when going tieless will impede professional or social success so, before you dump the silk, ask yourself where the problem lies. Physical discomfort is most likely to be caused by a shirt collar that's too small. Or is it just that you don't like your ties: might a woollen tie, a bow tie or a knitted silk tie redefine the item? If you remain unconvinced, how about some kind of neckerchief or cravat? If, however, you are set on this course do think about your shirt, because an open collar needs to stand up to look right.

Question
I have to wear conservative clothes to the office but I like the idea of injecting some colour into my outfits. Where do I start?
Answer
It is possible to inject a lot of colour into a professional outfit without flouting convention. For Brits it starts with solid-coloured socks - scarlet socks go well with a navy suit and black shoes - whereas on the Continent they prefer patterned socks. Shirts can also make a difference; even blue shirts can be striped or checked rather than just a plain colour. Ties come next, in stripes, big spots or gingham checks, and that's before you introduce a pocket square in a contrasting colour, or an eye-catching watchstrap.
