Accessories from fabric: a trend for 2015

There are many fabrics being used in fashion: rayon, polyester, nylon, silk, satin, cashmere, sheepskin, leather and cotton. These are the only some of the textures that designers use in transforming their passion into fashion; and  where they materialize their craving for fruitful creations and astounding works of art. But, there is always that style that stands out! For me, it is this ring made of fabric, or a cushion that has been transformed into a ring. 

Since I was wearing an all gray outfit with a medium aquamarine loafers and purse, I made it a point that I wear only the best accessories during my visit to my sponsors at the Grand Celebrity Bazaar. During my visit, I was mesmerized by the cushion ring from My Fabric Projects. It so happened that the ring I chose was also this grayish printed color so I had an overall monochromatic look that day.

The ring which exemplifies chic, modern and style is all what I need to complete the look. The pattern of the cushion gave it an overall iconic impression to those who will look at it. My friends would even touch it commenting its style and ask what its material. Obviously, I would answer it is  the cushion. These come from various swatches of fabric we usually throw. Fabulous necklace to have in 2015

You all know that I love accessories and I can not leave the house without them. Any outfit or attire would not be complete without a piece of bling: It can be a watch, a ring, some piece of necklaces or even something to carry. As far as I can remember, I have never left my abode without carrying something. It can be a watch or a purse or a bag. I would be completely irrelevant and out-of-style. The accessory has become part of my psyche and I just can't go anywhere without something hanging on my skin or something I would carry along. Thank goodness I have found the perfect solution to this fashion dilemma. 

Introducing the creativity that is out of the box from Monnick Cruz. Unlike other  accessory designers, Monnick Cruz  does not simply transform a precious gem or stone into a necklace or bracelet. She uses eccentric and hard-to-find materials for all her creations which make them more sophisticated and one-of-a-kind. Creating this took a lot of time and effort. See the materials she used? Acrylic beads, wax cord, ceramic tube beads, copper wire and most of all the Mother of Pearl Disc Pendant. Beauty always comes with a price, but the materials she used are not that expensive. I am truly fortunate to wear one of her stunning creations. 

Wearing an all gray top during my visit to my sponsors was a challenge last week. I don't know how to stun myself and others with the attire since it was too monochromatic or one toned. Fortunately, Monnick Cruz came up with this summer ensemble necklace that shines and hangs like a playful piece of accessory. Revenge Wears Prada....Will there be a movie?

I have never ever read any book as exciting, true-to-life and inspirational as Devil Wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger. This was the movie that transcended me into the real world of fashion, having seen what it's like to work for a fashion magazine. I have always dreamed of working for Vogue or seeing in person the queen of fashion, Anna Wintour. I have memorized and embodied several lines in the movie such as:

"I'm on this great new diet...I don't eat anything and when I'm about to faint, I just eat a cube of cheese.....Just one stomach flu away from my goal weight."

"You have no style or sense of fashion...No no, that wasn't a question!"

" I'm not even hungry anymore. That's why those girls are so skinny."

"Who is that sad little person?"

"Everyone wants to be US!"

"Where the hell is my coffee? Has she died or something?"

"Never ask Miranda anything!'

Recently, the author published a sequel, Revenge Wears Prada...I have not read it though but I wish and pray that there will be a movie...I have to watch the movie yet prior to reading the book. Can't wait..

The movie I think will be more of a vindication to an already criticized sequel  of the original book. I believe that a good plot, acting prowess, fashion trends and cinematography will make Revenge Wears Prada movie... the best comeback of all time...Hope Lauren or any producer out there will make this a reality! If only I have the money to produce the film? LOL!

Books that can boost self image

Let's face it! Not all of us have the same self-esteem. Others are very high to the point they can be pompous while for some, a low image of oneself depicts insecurity and lack of self-confidence. One way to overcome these issues is to read a self-improvement book. Here, I will show you and recommend the books which I have been reading for the past year and have applied if not all the lessons I learned in this book. One thing to remember is that not every advice or scenario works for all. What can work for me may not work for you. But, if you happen to pass by the library or a bookstore, try browsing some of these books which will not only build your self-esteem but will also develop your inner beauty, self-confidence, poise, aura, perspective of others, happiness or outlook in life.

Ideas for Male Boutique Designs

Robinsons Place Manila is my most frequent hang-out mall recently. It is proximate to my condo and work, aside from being convenient, not too expensive, "has it all" appeal and good ambiance. I strolled around this mall recently and found some beautifully designed stores and window displays for men's fashion. Usually, fashion boutiques are dominated by women or female designs. Well, I recently toured this mall and found interesting fashion shops that caught my selective eyes. What caught my glance was the style of the clothing in the mannequin, the color coordination, the details in the window and the overall appeal of the store itself. Remember, what they have in the windows reflect what they want customers to see inside their stores. Here are snapshots of the best window displays that can serve as ideas to visual merchandisers, fashion experts, and interior designers out there:

My various styles in social media

The social media has taken us by storm. We can now connect to whoever we want anytime without necessarily going to see the person. Media has a strong influence in fashion as it sets the trend, the style, the mode in fashion styling and design. That is why I have registered in the most prominent social media sites where I can post my pictures, get likes, invite and add friends as well as get inspired by the many styles of people, whether street or glam, casual or formal from all over the world. I get to know how other people dress themselves and how they set trends too. As Asians, we are not as different from Europeans and Americans when it comes to setting the trend. It may not be Paris, New York, London or Milan, fashion can be everywhere and by everyone. It can be said that the world is MY runway. 

The first one is the famous Lookbook which is the leading online community centered around shoppable personal style photography that can help you show the art of your style and enhance your look through inspiration and feedback. My second favorite site is Chictopia which is an ultimate online destination for trendsetters to be inspired, socialize and share in fashion. Initially, it has an audience of female style enthusiasts but now guys like me are into this. It is easier to upload, give comments, get inspired and they have rewards button too. What more could you ask for in a site? That is why I am loving this site, although I am very new here. Some of my followers are actually loving my style. The third favorite site is Fashionfreax  which is an urban and hip site to guide me in style inspirations where my style is my creation and I can get fresh ideas on how to reinvent my taste in fashion. As it is, this site has a platform that helps stylists and fashionistas like me inspire others and get inspired as well. The site promises that we are not covarting through expensive luxury fashion which gets sold by fashion magazines-- but see the real outfits and creations which are worn by my fellow fashionistas at fashionfreax. The fourth social media site that I registered just this week had derived more Wows! in my looks. I just uploaded two looks but I got so many hits and views already. I am talking about What I wear which features lots of different styles from diverse people all over the world. Through this website, every member will help define other person's sense of style and fashion. I just love their motto that they believe that everybody deserves to be a star and in the spotlight. Finally, the local version of social site is the online counterpart of Preview Magazine, a leading fashion magazine in the Philippines which is Stylebible.ph.  I have been a member since 2012 and I have been No. 2 and 3 as top posers of Style Bible. Several of the top posers there are my fellow fashion bloggers to whom I have already met in a blogger bazaar. The good thing about the Style Bible is that they will post the photos in random so you will get to see the what people are wearing, what brands they are using and what is IN this season, whether it's wet or dry. Winning Male BSP uniforms

Last Wednesday, 18 September 2013, the winning male uniform designs were presented to the Governor of Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas. These were the top two choices of the BSP male populace. Fortunately, the one I modeled, got the highest votes of more than 1,000. Guess, I can really wear this outfit and give justice to it.. Hope it will also look good on the others as this is going to be our Thursday uniform. The outfit will not be complete without a necktie, so we will be having a necktie for sure.
