Tips in Fashion Styling

STYLING YOURSELF AND FINDING THE INNER FASHIONISTA IN YOU NEED NOT BE A FUSS. HERE ARE  TEN USEFUL STYLE TIPS FOR EVERYONE: 

1) EARRINGS - USE THEM SPARINGLY.. unless you don't want it to overshadow your outfit..Use studs and dangling alternately.

2. NECKLACE - If your outfit already has a statement stud, design, embroidery, accent, sequin, do not anymore put on a necklace because it will overrule the outfit. THE LESSER, THE BETTER.

3) SHOES  -  Match the color of your shoes with either your bag, pants or the entire outfit. Do not wear socks that are the same color of your shoes unless it is white or black. Be careful with colors, it can work or not work for you.

4) TIE - ties should only be worn with a long sleeve polo, not with a barong, a short sleeve, a polo or t-shirt. If your long sleeve has stripes or accent, avoid ties with prints or pattern. On the other hand, ties with pattern or print should be used with plain colored, monochromatic polo. A bow tie will work but do not wear them all the time.

5)  TOPS/BOTTOMS - the polo, shirt, blouse, whatever the design is should matched in color, style and design with the bottoms you are wearing. Colors should be limited to three. Four colors, and you will look like somebody selling ice cream. Combining tops and bottoms should be limited to three, IF it is a four -piece, make sure they are color coordinated. 

6)  COLOGNE- use perfume, cologne only when you have taken a bath. You do not want your odor mixed with that expensive eau de toilette, otherwise, people will run away from you, even the BEES....

7)  BRACELET - the less sounding it is, the better. Stick to two to three colors only. It should matched with the outfit. You can wear them as may as you like if you are wearing a plain tank top and some denim shorts...

8)  BAGS-  A small bag is for the party, a large one for travel, a medium for office. If you do not plan to carry any bag, and you end up shopping, avoid carrying plastic (BUT WE CANNOT AVOID THEM). Recyclable bags should be always at hand, whenever you go out. You might never know what you can buy when you drop by an urban bazaar. 

9)  SOCKS -- should not be multicolored. Avoid wearing them when you are with sandals, but please do wear one with leather and sneaker. Color should match either the pants and shoes. Avoid those striped, patterned socks. For guys, please have them long enough so that when you cross your legs, your skin will not show. For girls, shoe socks, or sandal protectors should not be seen.

10) UNDERWEAR -  When you are wearing a skimpy, see through slacks, a T-back may be useful (if you can carry them without hurting yourself) , so that your bikini line will not show. For boys, avoid wearing  underwear that catches the audience of your back, as it seems that everybody now a days wears similar branded stuff. Use fabric conditioner all the time to preserve the garter and texture of the underwear.

Let's face it: accessories either make you or break you! It does not take a long time for any girl who wants to look good to put on some bangles, necklaces or rings. Here you can see I matched the five piece arm party collection with a skull leather cuff, a brown naturally made wristlet, a spike leather bracelet,  a black onyx and a charmed bracelet. Styling tip: Be sure you don't match the same colors or styles to give your arm party a flair and a flavor.

Looks of the Blogger

Despite being busy these past few days on writing my book, I still managed to dress up the looks that I always wanted to do. Be it preppy or smart, cool or funky, corporate or casual, formal or street wear, these looks are undoubtedly my most favorite looks of all time. The fact that these looks are, I believe one of my best, these were also featured in Lookbook. Style Bible and Fashionfreax websites. It must be noted that styling for any occasion be it a date or dinner, lunch or movies, is sometimes arduous. You do not over think or over analyze your outfit because it can get worse, over styled, and you might end up becoming a fashion victim, rather than a trendsetter or head turner. For style to be effective,  a person should have a basic knowledge on how to combine different colors, fabric, cloth, texture and style of any outfit/attire. It is not adequate that the you wear something on top and something beneath. It takes more than that. Below are examples of my outfit I WORE for the past few days. Fashion need not be costly

Let us face it! Some of us are afraid of wearing high fashion couture or something out of the ordinary. We are fearful that when others see us, they may say what were we thinking? And, why this outfit? Well, basically, fashion can never be dictated and personal style is something you have or you don't have. When I went to the Grand Bazaar at the Elements Tent at Centris Mall last Saturday, I never thought I could outdo myself by buying only the best tops at a very reasonable price.Before, I don't normally go to bazaar but recently, I have been an addict for sale items and bargains whether it's tops, bags, accessories and shoes. I found out that the Grand Bazaar has a particular stall, name Badoo, a provincial term for clothes. 

The stall is managed of course by the most accommodating, courteous owner I know, Ms. Kristine Chua. When I met Ms. Chua last February at the bazaar, I fell in love with her collection. No, they are not ukay-ukay nor they are used or overused. These tops are imported overruns and they have large sizes too. Even if the styles are of women or ladies, some of the pieces, well I can definitely pull them off. Why? You might wonder. As Kristine would tell it, I have good shoulders, enough for me to be a hanger so that clothes hang/fit on me perfectly. That is why, it is good to have a slender, tall figure.When I and Kristine met, we actually clicked, maybe  because we both love fashion and are Chinese. As a model and fashion stylist myself, I SELECTED the clothing from this pile of clothes and was able to come up with the following looks:

I wore this mustard blazer over my patterned shirts and yellow trousers. Did I pull this look? I can honestly say, yes! Since the sleeves are a bit short, I had it pull into mid arm so that the look of the blazer will go shapely to my long, lean body. I and Kristine had a great time styling my look and it's not that costly to buy these blazers. At buy one, take one for P480.00, who knows you can actually look this good? I was inspired to go monochromatic with this look thus with the androgenous like blazer from Badoo with a printed shirt, black trousers, two-toned loafers, some sunglasses and an orange tote, didn't I look one-color,  but take note it's not boring because I manage to match the outfit well and I know my colors if they match my skin tone or not. In this photo, you can see Ms. Marshela Jamaira Tan, owner of Chatoyer et Etinceler. The denim jacket suits my beach printed shirt, brown belt and light blue denim pants. Those raisin beaded necklaces are from Ms. Tan, which indeed shimmers and sparkles as I walk. Since I went for a one tone outfit again, I defied the look with a yellow snakeskin tote bag from Belladonna. TIP: If you don't like monochromatic look, don't go there, try experimenting what colors complements your skin first and what suits your body type...Do you love this look? 

My middle eastern inspired look with this tunic also from Badoo: a one tone outfit.  This top is made up of sack fiber which gives the outfit a little twist. With the right accessories, shoes and a tote bag, this look definitely rocked it! Don't you think? Finally the red-violet outfit that most of my friends love. With a fringe necklace, a bright red belt, brown pants and the animal printed clothed tote bag, I actually just went to church wearing this. They were actually asking when I went there, "artista? may show?" Well, I just replied, "Wala, it's just Badoo." Actually, it's that violet blazer from Badoo that made the look stand out. It is actually for a corporate woman, but I was able to pull this look with poise and confidence. I think anyone should have these two characteristics so that THEY can wear whatever they want. My advice is that if you are not comfortable with your own skin, then you will not be comfortable wearing any kind of clothing. And, do you know what sets models apart from non-models, it's their aura and charisma to strut the runway with fabulous clothing from designers.

Sunnies with Style
