Sunnies with Style

If there is anything we need to wear this summer, it's those flip flops, top tanks, floral dresses, sheer skirts and most of all sunglasses.

And, if there is one thing that we need to protect our precious, lovely skin, it's that pair of sunglasses or shades that we need to wear, specially this very hot yet sizzling summer season in the Philippines. What are sunglasses or shades?

According to Wikipedia, sunglasses or spelled as sun glasses are a form of protective eyewear design primarily to prevent bright sunlight and high-energy visible light. In the early 20th century, they are called sun cheaters (cheaters being an American slang for glasses). In fashion however, sunglaases are not only worn during sunny day. I wear sunglasses even on the evening, specially when attending fashion show (like Anna Wintour of American Vogue).

For me sunglasses are not only fashion accessories, they complete an entire outfit specially if you are wearing the latest spring or summer line. For some, shades are a form of reflection of aura or a mystifying accessory that seeks to define who they are. For some even, they can't leave home without wearing a pair of Oakley, Gucci, Ray-ban or Persol. Did you know that shades can conceal your inner being or your personal aura for the day? And, did you know that shades or sunglasses are the most common terms to refer these accessories, but they can also be called glares, glints, sun spectacles, spekkies, sunglass, sun-shades, glecks and my most favourite, smoked spectacles and solar shields, sounds like a machine or equipment to cover you from the sun? LOL!

The sunnies, which I call the product I am about to introduce, comes from Australian, South African, UK and New Zealand slang word to refer to the same shades or sunglasses we call them. In Southern India, they even call it, cooling glasses! Sounds like something you use in the kitchen. In the fashion industry, the sunglasses is the most sought after accessory especially during summer. There are great brands: Oakley, Ray-Ban, Kaenon Polarized, Costa Del Mar, Persol and Maui Jim, but again, why do I have to buy these expensive sunnies when I can purchase the coolest, hippest accessory in the market today.
